Family Companion (Introductory Obedience)
The Family Companion Introductory Obedience Program will quickly provide you with the knowledge to teach your dog to SIT, DOWN, STAY, COME, HEEL, WALK WITH A LOOSE LEASH, NOT JUMP UP ON PEOPLE and more. We use modern, gentle, effective methods. We have recently restructured our program to enable the dogs to learn at an accelerated rate for very quick results. During the classes, you will acquire a thorough knowledge about how dogs learn and a variety of training techniques to suit your individual dog.
We provide detailed class notes.
We strive to develop a solid relationship between you and your dog by placing emphasis on petting, praise and play as rewards. Food treats are used sparingly to prevent your dog from only listening when treats are present.
You will be taught to apply what you learn in class for use in everyday life.
A fun class where you and your dog learn to enjoy, understand and respect each other. Your dog will develop emotional control and self discipline to provide reliability when encountering distractions.
The classes are held in two different locations.
- On Saturday afternoons in South Rawdon at The Lietash Dog Sports Facility and Grounds (View Map)
- On Sunday afternoons in Lower Sackville at Hiltz Tae Kwon Do (View Map
- ON-LINE on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. These classes are very effective, personalized, and interactive. They are a great choice!
Again, thank you for last night’s lesson – it was so helpful and we are all amazed how much progress can be made in one evening! Izzy has been going to a down within two tries today and the eye contact with treats works wonders! She is actually making more eye contact today as if inquiring what we expect her to do! You are doing a fabulous job with online teaching too – I just wanted to thank you and let you know how much I appreciate it!

Hi Bob,
Thanks again for the classes, they were really great! I’m really impressed with how Luna is coming along, I wouldn’t have gotten to where we are without your help.
I was unsure how the classes via Zoom were going to go in the beginning. I’m happy to say that I’ve been blown away with the experience, it has been excellent. The classes are very interactive and I even feel like I got even more feedback than when we were doing the in-person classes. I certainly got to spend more un-interrupted time working with my dog. Given the choice between in-person and online I would have no hesitation to do an online class again.
Cheers,
Amanda
